Mordecai Massey, son of Samuel Massey and Catharine Farnsworth, was born on 9 October 1807 in Loudoun county, Virginia.
Mordecai was a witness to his sister Phoebe's marriage in 1830 in Loudoun county, Virginia, thus he must have been at least twenty one years old at that time. Also, in 1831 he bought land in his own name.
Mordecai wed Susan Susanna Russell on 5 January 1832 in Delaware county, Indiana. [1] Mordecai and Susan's son Clark Massey was born on 21 June 1834 in Muncie, Delaware county, Indiana. In 1837 Mordecai divorced his wife Susan. Susan was later married to Jonathan George, but that marriage too ended quickly in divorce.
In 1833 Mordecai served on the grand jury of Delaware County, Indiana. Mordecai is recorded as having come to vote together with his brother Levi Massey. In 1839 Mordecai sold his land in Delaware County and moved to Porter County, Indiana. [2]
In 1860 M. Massey is recorded as being fifty-two years of age and living in Western District, Saint Mary Parish, Louisiana. [3]
Mordechai Massey died on 15 May 1877 in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana.
