Joseph William Massey, son of Daniel Massey and Etta Lane, was born on 6 November 1880 in Valparaiso, Porter, Indiana. [1]

In 1900 Joseph W. Massey is recorded as being nineteen years of age and living in South Bend, Saint Joseph county, Indiana. [2]

On 17 October 1906 in Marseilles, La Salle, Illinois, Joseph William Massey wed Jessamina Babcock. [3] They had three children:

  1. Freida May Massey, born 26 Nov 1907;
  2. Thomas Daniel Massey, b. 28 Jul 1909;
  3. Verna Ruth Massey, b. 6 Mar 1913.

Joseph William Massey died on 16 May 1943 in Napa, Napa county, California. [11] He was buried at Tulocay Cemetery.

Cousin Penny (Dawn Paulsen Padgett) recalled that Joseph William Massey's daughter - Freida Massey, and her friend Fern, had a chrystal ball which they used to foretell the future. Freida had inherited the chrystal ball from family members who had used it during the World's Fair on the Mississippi river. - BdFM
