Biography

Tamer / Tamara Massey, the eldest child of Samuel Massey and Catharine Farnsworth, was born on 10 April 1802 in Loudoun county, Virginia. Tamer was named after her father's first wife Tamer (Cowgill) Massey, according to the custom of that time, to honour the memory of a deceased wife by naming after her the eldest daughter of a second marriage.

In 1816 Tamer Massey was wed to Ezekiel Bazzill (born 23 Jul 1792 in VA). Tamer and Ezekiel had the following children: [1]

  1. Tamson Bazzill, born 22 Jun 1822 in VA; wed to William Epperson, Demas Stiles;
  2. Mary Bazzill, b. 1824 in VA;
  3. Amanda Bazzill, b. 25 Jan 1826 in VA; wed to William Tucker;
  4. John Bazzill, b. 1830 in OH;
  5. Benjamin F. Bazzill, b. 1833 in Delaware, IN;
  6. Catherine Bazzill, b. 20 Aug 1834 in Delaware, IN;
  7. George W. Bazzill, b. 31 Aug 1837 in Delaware, IN;
  8. Seth G. Bazzill, b. 10 Sep 1839 in Cooper, MO; wed Inza Buck, Nancy Jane Wonacott;
  9. Emily Bazzill, b. 1843 in MO;
  10. James Riley Bazzill, b. 8 Jan 1845 in Andrew, MO.

They were in Delaware county in the 1830's, but later moved to Missouri. [2] Ezekiel Bazill (misread as Bozell by the transcriber) is recorded in the 1840 Census of Cooper county, Missouri. [3] Tamer Massey Bazzill died on 28 December 1849 in Cooper county, Missouri at age forty-seven. Ezekiel Bazzill died in 1850 in Cooper county at age fifty-eight. [4]

Massie-200 and Massey-2338 appear to represent the same person because: The proper LNAB is Massey, as this is what the family has always used thoughout the generations, even though in some ensus records it was also spelt Massie. Tamara was born in Loudoun county, Virginia, not in Kentucky.
