Jonathan Massie (aka "Massey") was the son of Jeptha and Mary (Sowards) Massie. He was born in September 1787 in Greenbrier County, Virginia, USA. He later moved to Mason Township, Lawrence County, Ohio, USA. He died on his farm there on 19 July 1876 at 89 years old. He was buried in the Carnes Cemetery, Lawrence County, Ohio, USA, next to his 2nd wife, who had died in 1872. [1]
