Biography
Roswell was born in 1807. He is the son of Roswell Matthews and Hannah Grannis. He passed away in 1823. [1]

- Register of Baptism civil and military Fort George (Niagara)July 12 1807 Roswell Mathews of Roswell and Hannah Mathews
- This was an Anglican ceremony by the chaplain of the Armed Forces at the Fort. No witnesses/sponsors names given, no place of residence recorded.
- Since Roswell senior was a well versed in construction trades one might speculate that he was engaged in construction in and around the Newark area - known today as Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
