[Transcribed by HP.] In the name of God, Amen. I Ann Matthews of the County and parish of Henrico being of sound memory and in my perfect senses, do make and ordain, constitute and appoint this my last Will and Testament, in manner and form as followeth. First, I desire that all my just debts may be paid. Item. I give and bequeath to my son Hutchins Matthews one shilling sterling to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath to my son William Matthews one shilling sterling to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Matthews one shilling sterling to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Gathright my two old cows and half my wearing clothes, to her and her heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Susanna Patterson the remaining half of my wearing clothes, to her and her heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath to my Grand daughter Nancy Matthews, daughter of Thomas, one cow and calf, one spinning Wheel and Carels, one large pot, one Dutch oven, one skillet to her and her heirs forever. I do hereby nominate and appoint Anselm Gathright and William Matthews as Executors to this my last Will and Testament, as I have hereunto set my hand and seal this first day of August in the year of our Lord Christ, one thousand seven hundred and ninety-one. This last Will and Testament of Ann Matthews deceased was proved by the oaths of Matthew Hobson, William Bethell and Sarah Bethelll the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Anselm Gathright one of the Executors therein named, who under oath thereto and together with Matthew Hobson and Littleberry Royales his securities entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of fifty pounds conditioned according to Law. Certificate is granted them for obtaining a probate thereof in due form. Liberty being reserved to the other Executor named in the said Will to join in the probate when he shall think fit.
