Biography
Following taken from the Houston Chronicle OB Notice: James D. Matthews, passed away December 3, 1984. Member of the Methodist Church and Reagan Lodge No. 1037, AF & AM. Veteran of WWII. One of the youngest city marshals in The State of Texas at age 19 in Gilmer, Texas. Deputy Sheriff in Upshur County Sheriff Department, Special Agent for the legal department at Exxon Corp. for 37 years, held a special Texas Ranger Commission at this time.
