Biography
Hannah was born in 1820, the daughter of Joseph Matthews and Jane Driver.. [1]
In 1840, Hannah Matthews married James Derrett, in Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England.[2]
This was not a happy marriage for Hannah, and they separated around 1843. They had left England for Port Phillip in 1840.[3]
James Derrett was missing, and possibly presumed deceased in 1857 because Hannah later married as a widow.[4]
On August 22, 1857, Hannah Matthews married William Muston Herring.[5] Marriage Notice: On the 22nd ult., by the Rev. Isaac Harding, William Mustin Herring to Hannah Derrett, widow of James Derrett, both of St. Kilda.[6]
She passed away in 1907, aged 87.[7]
