Biography

In most early documents her birth name was spelled Mathews

19 May 1669, Petition to Court at Boston, Inhabitants of Oyster River. requests two ministers, one at Dover neck and one in Oyster River. Signed by Wid. Elisabeth Drew, Benj. Mathews, Joseph Field, Francis Drew, Thomas Drew, Robert Burnam, Zachariah Field, and others. Consented by court 27 May 1669.^[1]

Elizabeth Follett was living as of August 1, 1706 when when was the executor of her spouse, William Follett's estate.^[2]

Origin

Elizabeth was born c. 1628, probably at Ottery St. Mary, Devon, England.^[3] She was a daughter of Francis Matthews and Thomasine Channon.^[4][5][6]

Note: The first child named Elizabeth, daughter of Francis Mathews and Thomasine was baptized 27 December 1623 at Ottery St. Mary, Devon, England, Devon, England. This child was buried on 12 February 1624/5. The 2nd Elizabeth who m. William Drew was born circa 1628, as there was another daughter, Frances who was baptized 20 Feb. 1625/6.^[7]

• She married in 1671, as her 2nd, to William Follett.

Death and Legacy
