Henry 59,
James 15
Henry appears on the census records for Grayson County, Kentucky in 1850, age 59. Most sources place his birth in 1787 but some census records would suggest 1791. The census of 1830 suggest he was born between 1790 and 1800 while the 1840 census suggest 1780 to 1790. His wife has passed on by 1850. It appears that nearly all of his children are at home on this census except for three: Elizabeth was residing with Fielding & Nancy Templeman, her mother's brother; Nancy was residing with John and Jannet Barron (this was actually John U L Barnes and Nancy's sister, Jane); and George W. was a laborer living with Urish and E. Winchel. Henry also appears on the 1860 census for Grayson County as age 73, supporting the year 1787 as his year of birth. At this time he and his youngest son, Francis, were residing with the son James and his family. There has been considerable information from Joe Lewis, Bob Alvey, Jo Ann Mattingly, Joe Hammer, Bill Hansen, Russell Dalton, and Michele Templeman, each of whom are quite knowledgeable of this family.
I have found no conclusive evidence regarding the parentage of Henry, however, I tend to suspect he was a son of Barnett from Grayson County because of his close proximity to this family during the years of his life. While I have attached Henry as a son of Barnett, I maintain a separate file on him pending proof he does not fit here.
