The 1930 census says the brothers Dewey and Tom and Herman Leslie are lodgers in the household of Hollis Mattox. There is a grandson, James R. Leslie. who is apparently the son of Oleta (Maddox) Leslie, also in the household. Who the husband of Oleta might be is not evident. It might appear that it is one of the Leslie brothers in the household. But, which one?
From Smith, 2004 it appears to be James R.. But he does not appear in the household.
The grandson appears in the 1940 census, again in the household of Hollis Maddox. His aunt Loretta Maddox is in the household, but neither his mother nor father.
