Johann Mattsson Skrika was a Finn, possibly born in Sweden, and served as a soldier at Fort Christina in 1654--5. He had arrived in New Sweden on the Örnen (Eagle) in 1654, having been recruited as a soldier. [1]
Johan died at Crane Hook about 1691 leaving six known children. The sons alternated between surnames Matson and Skrika (meaning "screamer" or "jay"). [2]

Disambiguation: there was another Johan Mattson who settled in Gloucester County. His wife's name was Skrika __. Is the first name of the wife a coincidence (same surname as this Johan)?
