Biography

Henry was born about 1758.

From the will of Capt Francis Mauldin that Henry needed learning which would indicate that Henry was probably less than 7 years of age in 1762.

Henry's older brother (probably half brother) Francis who died in 1770 lists Henry and his sister Mary Kitridge as minors in his will. From Capt Francis's will his wife was with child at the time of the will. This child probably was deceased at the 1770 will of his son Francis since there was no mention of that child.

In 1778, Henry and his brothers Benjamin and William signed the oath of Allegiance. Normally, anyone who had served in a military unit was not required to sign the oath.

Henry was not found in the 1790 census, however, on the census for his brother William - there are 9 other free persons.

A deed recorded 19th Day of Nov 1796 Cecil Co. MD between Henry Mauldin of Cecil Co., MD and Phillip Roach of the same county Twenty three acres for 11 lbs current lawful money of the State of Maryland signed sealed and delivered in the presense of Stephen Hyland Jeremiah Baker Henry Mauldin (Seal) This deed mentions Turkey Point Neck and the East side of the head of Chesepeake Bay.

I am of the opinion that Henry Mauldin, son of Francis Mauldin and Mary Ketridge Sluyter lived in Maryland until after he sold his inherited land above. I also believe that he traveled south to Georgia with the Amos Family who were probable relations and he married Martha Amos in Columbia Co., GA.

Mauldon Amos was the son of William Amos and his probable second wife Ann Maulden.
