Biography

Peter was born in 1813. He was the son of Walter Maxey Nancy Doshier

He married Sarah Young before 1838. They had a large family.

  • "Fifthly to Sally Young one cow, one bed and furniture, one sow, one ewe."

They were in Cannon County, Tennessee in 1840.[1] The adjacent household was that of Elizabeth Young (Sarah's mother?) Other Maxeys on the same census page were Richard Maxey (brother) and Walter Maxey (father).

The family moved to Shannon County, Missouri. In 1870, he was in son Louis Maxey's household in Newton, Shannon, Missouri.[4] Sarah was likely deceased as she was not recorded on that census.


In 1880, he was living in the household of his daughter Nancy and her husband David Prater in Jackson, Shannon, Missouri.[5]

On 11 Mar 1887, he filed for a pension for his service in the Mexican war with Company F 3rd Tennessee Volunteers.[6]

Peter passed away in 1898 and was buried in Upper Indian Creek Cemetery in Viburnum, Iron County, Missouri .[7]
