Biography

In 1811 Hugh Herbert Maxwell married Odile Menard, daughter of Pierre Menard and Therése (Godin) Menard, of Kaskaski, Illinois.

Hugh died September 4, 1833. There is a photograph of his headstone on his Find A Grave memorial, which may be seen here.

The inscription on the headstone indicates that he was about 56 years of age at his death. We can calculate that his year of birth, then was around 1777, to 1791 making him approx. 16 years older than his wife, who survived him by 29 years.

Both Hugh and Odile are buried in the Menard Cemetery in Randolph County, Illinios.^[1]
