Biography
Herbert (Maxwell) Maxwell XIIth of Maxwell and Xth of Caerlaverock is a member of Clan Maxwell.
Herbert was the 10th of Maxwell, 8th Lord of Caerlaverock, of Mearns and Libberton.[1] He was the last styled as Lord of Caerlaverock, as his son, Herbert was made a peer and the line continued as Lord Maxwell.
Herbert was a son of Robert Maxwell, Lord of Caelaverock and Mearns and his wife Janet Forrester. He was a brother of Margaret Maxwell of Caerlaverock.

He married Katherine Stewart of Dalswinton with whom he had to sons:
- Sir Herbert Maxwell, Knight, 1st Baron Maxwell b: ABT 1388 in Caerlaverock Castle, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.[1]
