Biography

Benjamin H. May was born about 1810 in North Carolina.

Benjamin married Nancy Neal from Tennessee.

The children of Benjamin and Nancy were:

  • John W. May (b. abt. 1832 in Alabama)
  • Schnilar May (b. abt. 1835 in Alabama)
  • Thomas May (b. abt. 1842 in Alabama)
  • Rebecca May (b. abt. 1844 in Alabama)

  • James H. May (b. abt. 1848 in Alabama)

The 1850 U.S. Census lists Benjamin at the age of 40 with Nancy at 35 and six children living on a farm in Harrison Township of Union County, Arkansas.[1]

In the 1870 Census, Benjamin is shown as a 60 year old carpenter with three children living in Union County, Arkansas.[2]

Benjamin H. May is thought to have died about 1886 in Hot Spring County, Arkansas.
