Biography

I met her once at our home in Cincinnati in the mid 1964. I remember because "It's my Party" by Leslie Gore was a big hit. She was like my mother quiet & laid back. My grandfather divorced her because he met another woman. I'm not sure why? She was born poor, lived poor, & died poor.

My Mom was the oldest of all those children Mona bore Seward Healy.

Mom and the 8 of up piled into a 1955 Chrysler New Yorker to see her in her small rundown apt. in downtown Evansville. The only good thing she had was an organ which she played very well. We were only there for a day & we bought our food, Baloney, a loaf of white bread & mayonnaise before we got there. Grandma couldn't have fed the 9 of us plus the 5 from my aunt Shirley and her kids.

Mom & my 2 oldest sisters were the only ones at her funeral. I was in the Corps in Sublc Bay.[1] Mona is Edward Pikes grandmother. My mother and older sister Doris bought grandma's headstone. She is buried at Locust Hill Cemetery, Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana.

Bio posted by Edward Pike on FindaGrave

"All of her children have now died. The oldest Zelma Ilene Healy Pike died in a Mt. Healy nursing home in 2013. She was 87 and my mother. My mother was cremated as my father. Mona's husband was Seward Healy and were later divorced. Dorothy & my mother were the last siblings alive & ask me to post her bio posted this since my mother was enable. The Healy's were an old family that came to White Co. from the Boston area through Vermont & Ohio. Dorothy died just month's before my mother Ilene died in 2013"

Someone on F.A.G. redid the bio and made mistakes.

Corrections

Mona lived to be 63 and my mother lived to be 87. My mother and aunt asked me to post the original bio as a memorial to their mother and I redid it after Mom died.

Mona had more children than this but I don't have information on them yet. Pike-2301 20:18, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
