Note

Note: "Mrs. Law's later years were years of pain and suffering which she faced
cheerfully and courageously up to her death. Three and a half years later
John Law followed his wife to the grave, having reached the ripe old age of
ninety." Law Ancestry received from Marie Shull.
Note: Obituary: On the 28th ult., Mrs. Debra Law, beloved wife of Mr. John Law, Sen., of this township, departed this life in the 83rd year of her age. The poor old lady, from illness and old age, had been confined to her bed the greater part of her time
for a number of years, and had anxiously looked forward to the time when she would exchange her sufferings in this world for a crown of glory in a better. She leaves behind her bereaved husband, a large circle of relatives, children, grand-children
and great-grand-children. Mrs. Law was a native of County Down, Ireland, emigrating to Canada with her husband in 1822, and has resided in the vicinity of Port Dover for the last forty-seven years. (The New Dominion, Port Dover, Ontario, Feb. 5, 1869)
Note: Information on descendants of John and Deborah Law has been gathered by Mrs. Noble Law, Donna Green, Myrna Vardy, Marie Shull, Mike Mehney, Beatriz Lopez, Ray Babcock (compiler of this family tree), Neal Law, Shelley Ginger, Maisie Harris and others.
Deborah Law's maiden name, "McBride," was supplied by Charlie Witherell in an email to Neal Law as follows: "This is something I discovered recently when I came across an old address book left behind by my father (who died in 1975), in which he had
made some notes on his Bannister relatives. After writing "John Bannister was a captain at 21 when he came from England", he wrote "Elizabeth Law's mother was a McBride." I have no reason to doubt this. The address book is quite old and from other
notes in it, I think the notes were made in the 1930s or even earlier, probably when my father was visiting Bannister relatives in Port Dover and trying to find out more about the Bannister family.
The information may have come from John A. Bannister (1875-1965) who was a son of William Bannister (1833-1915) and grandson of Elizabeth Law."
