Biography

Another Pioneer Woman Passes From Life

Mrs Corranda Ann Sims, nee McBride, age 83, died at the home of Mr and Mrs M. L. Holt from the effects of a stroke of paralysis on Jan. 2. She had been ill since another stroke of paralysis which occured last October. Mrs Sims was born in Arkansas June 23, 1853 and grew to womanhood in that state. About the year 1868 she married Will McBride, and to this union six children were born. Her husband died prior to 1884, and she married William Sims that year. After their marriage, they moved to Eastern Oklahoma, and she first came to Weeleetka in 1903. She moved to western Oklahoma with Mr and Mrs Holt and then again returned here in 1925 and has since made her home here. The surving children are Mrs P. C. Proctor and Mr and Mrs M. L. Holt of Weeleetka, W. L. McBride of Krebbs, and Luther Sims of Gladewater, Texas. Besides these, she leaves 45 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 15 great great-grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted at the Holt home by Rev. Cole of Oklahoma City, a minister of the church of Johavah Witnesses, and the interrment made at Hillcrest Cemetery.
