Sarah McCullough married Henry Black. Both were born and raised in Pennsylvania. They moved to Iowa around 1870, where they raised ten children. Sarah had four sisters and a brother, John, who died in the Civil War.
Her sisters, Jane, Rachel and Margaret organized and ran a girl's school in Iowa, Mount Pleasant Female Seminary. Sister Isabella may or may not have taught there (no records).
Sarah died and was buried in Iowa on June 23, 1883.
