Biography

Mary was born about 1828. She and her sister Julia, 18, were convicted of arson in 1848, to escape the famine. They were transported from the Port of Kingston near Dublin, on 5 April 1849 on the convict transport Maria (2). [1]

Mary married John Rogers in 1851 at Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. [2]

Her children include Mary Ann 1851, Catherine 1853-6 and Thomas 1855 n Hobart, and in NSW John 1863, Henry in 1865 and Catherine in 1867.

Mary's sister, Julia also married a convict, William Oliver in 1853.
