DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Tara or other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Tara:
If you are adding any DNA tests to profiles on WikiTree, please be sure to add the tests to the actual test participant's profile, and that the Privacy is set to show the participant's Family Tree tab.
Welcome to our community, Tara. WikiTree offers many different ways to pursue genealogy. It's a lot of fun!
Thanks for volunteering to help grow our worldwide tree by adding your family branches. :)
Our Honor Code, G2G forum, and many other useful links can be accessed from the menus on the upper right corner of most pages.
Please consider stopping by the Tree House to introduce yourself.
VERY IMPORTANT:
The more documents, sources, dates, and locations you provide on the profiles you create, the stronger your branches and our mutual global tree will be. If you don't know the correct date, please estimate using before or after.
Thanks for helping in our mission to build a global tree with only ONE profile per person.
Yes! I am excited to be here and sharing my family tree and my DNA. i am willing and able. I am a bit perplexed by the vast quantity of information, but totally up for the challenge!!!
Have you checked the Help Index? There is a comprehensive section on GEDCOMS that I would recommend reading. If you are still unsure, you can contact a mentor (also under the Help Index). I have not used a GEDCOM. I entered all my profiles individually, so I'm sorry I can't help you from personal experience.
Did you know we have a project for DNA where a lot
of great new things are happening? If you are interested
and would like to check it out, go to the FIND link top right
of your profile page, select PROJECTS from the drop down
box, and then select the link for the DNA project. It has
information listed that might be of interest to you, and
feel free to contact any of the members if you would like
additional details.
Check out the Family Tree & Tools tab at the top of your profile!
if you haven't already, please confirm your email address.
We're striving to grow a FREE Worldwide Family Tree with ONE Collaborative Profile per person so, if you would like to join us, click the volunteer button and leave a message telling us that.
Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.
Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.
If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.
