Biography

• Probably born 1841 or 1842 in County Cork, Ireland. This is based on age 12 in January 1854 per immigration details. Per death record, however, her birth year would have been 1844 or 1845.
• Emigrated from Ireland to Australia prior to in 1854 via Plymouth aboard the barque, Time and Truth.^[1]
  • Departed Plymouth on 11 January 1854.
  • Julia was aged 12 in January 1854, according to ship manifest.
  • Siblings Kate (aged 9), Mary (aged 8), Bridget (aged 4) and Ellen (aged 4 months) also listed until the family entry in the manifest.
  • Her mother, Bridget (Biddy) and infant sister, Ellen, died en route to South Australia, leaving Julia's father Michael to carry on with four daughters.
  • Arrived in South Australia on 6 May 1854 at Port Adelaide.

• Married John Rogers 13th February 1866 in St. Joseph's Church at Willunga.
  • Marriage was registered as being at 'Sellicks Hill' nearby, which is also in the Hundred of Willunga.^[2]
