Biography

Marie Therese Jeanne Macarty has French origins.

Marie Therese Jeanne Mccarty [French}

  • French women generally kept their given surname upon marriage during this period of time. Their children kept their father's surname. French women often had combined Prenames a custom that remains in use today.
  • Her husband's given surname was Navarre. However this is a French-Spanish example of the given surname of her husband's mother, (Rochon) being joined together with Navarre. I believe that might have been done in part to distinguish his family lines and to legitimize the children during that time period as free person's of color) .Baraboo-1 15:08, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
  • She is an ancestor by marriage of noted TV and news journalist Suzanne Malveaux[1]
