Ellen McCarty was born March 16, 1839, Edgefield District, South Carolina, the daughter of Jacob McCarty and Matilda Wheeler[1].
She married Andrew Shelton Cromer about 1850 as the are without children in the 1850 census[2] however, their first son, George, was born January 1951. Also included in the 1850 census is evidence that the couple were living with her grandfather, Dennis McCarty on the McCarty farm which included households 600-604 of McCarty aunts and uncles.
They lived and farmed in an area of Edgefield District that became the county of Saluda, South Carolina. She died Sep. 2, 1913. Her obituary and children are included in the Red Bank Baptist Church Cemetery findagrave memorial. [3]and is buried at Red Bank Church Cemetery in Saluda.
