In the 1900 Census for pct.7, Columbia County, Florida John McClinton was 74 yrs old and a Farmer. He was the head of his household which consisted of his wife, Elmina, age 58, also born in South Carolina. She had birthed 7 children and all 7 were still living. The children in the home were: Willie R. (aka:William Richey) b. 10/1868; Corrie C. (aka:Mary Cornelia) b. 03/1871 who was a school teacher; Sara F. b.08/1873; James A. (aka:James Alexander) b. 07/1876 who is a carpenter; Annie L (aka:Annie Louise) b. 01/1879 who is a teacher; John H. Jr. b. 05/1881 a farm laborer; an an unknown daughter (name illegible) E. McClinton b.09/1883. All of the children were also born in South Carolina.
