Biography

Napoleon was born in 1830. He died in 1914 at the age of 84.

Parents: Robert Gilmore McClure 1793 - 1877 and Jane (Thompson) McClure 1803 - 1886.

Napoleon grew to manhood in Indiana and engaged in farming. In 1857, he made his first trip to Kansas and lived there for 2 years in Miami County. He then returned to Vincennes and married Miss Dorcas McCord. Shortly after their marriage, they returned to Kansas and settled on a farm near Perry, where they lived until they came to Emporia in 1890.

Napoleon united with the Presbyterian church when a young man, and he had been closely identified with church work all his life. He was a charter member of the church in Perry and was an elder of the church during his residence there. After coming to Emporia, he became a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was devoted to home and family, and was a good man and a good citizen in every sense of the word."
