Mary was Baptized on March 9, 1838 in Penninghame, Wigtownshire Scotland. She was presented by her parents, Hugh and Mary.
Mary married John Rankin in 1858 in Penninghame and they had six children before moving their family to New Zealand in 1869. Mary and John had four more children, all born in New Zealand, between 1871 and 1881. Mary spent the rest of her life in Maheno, passing away in 1912.
