Biography
Carolina was the 3rd and last child born to John M and Margaret Charlotte Lemmond McCord. In 1922 when she was 28, she married Amos Filmore Whitley in Charlotte, North Carolina.[1] Their only child, Barbara Jean, was born in 1927.
On the morning of August 25th, 1940, Carolina Brite McCord Whitley died of a shotgun blast through the center of her chest. The death was ruled a suicide. She's buried in the Paw Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Paw Creek, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. She was 45.[2]
