Florence McCormick was born in October 1926, the middle child of Joe McCormick and Mary King. Florence trained as a nurse through the Cadet Nursing Corps during WWII, and worked at Bellevue and Kings County hospitals in Brooklyn, NY. In 1950 Florence married William Henry Martin, who she had met on a blind date set up by her cousin Elizabeth Faughnan. Bill and Flo had 10 children. She was 74 when she passed away in Holmdel, NJ from breast cancer.
