Patrick was the second of seven children in the family of John and Cecily Gallahan McCormick. He was born in County Donegal, Ireland, and immigrated to Canada with his parents as a child.[1]The family lived for a time in Simcoe County, before obtaining land in Peel Township, Wellington County about 1847.
Patrick married Johanna Linehan when he was about 32 years old.[2]
He farmed with his father in Peel Township, Wellington County, Ontario,[3] before establishing his own household on land he purchased from his father (Lot 11 east, Concession 1).[4][5]
He died of lung disease in 1878 when he was thought to be 48 years old,[6] leaving his widow with three young children.
He is buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Macton.[7]
