Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.
Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.
If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free-Space Profiles.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a Unresponsive Profile Managers for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page. Shayne ~ WikiTree Mentor
Hello Barbara! It has been many years since we have connected, but I have always appreciated your work and efforts in NJ. I recently connected with Ric Springer through Wikitree and have shared some photos with him. It is hard for me to keep up with all the opportunities. For the most part, my primary online place is the FamilySearch Family Tree. I am trying to get my information up and running there.
Thank you for your decision to contribute. WikiTreers have all sorts of skills, but one common interest - genealogy. I would recommend first looking around and become familiar with the various functions.
The main menu, located at the top right of the page, offers access to the most important features amongst them your Wiki-ID. In the help section »G2G« at the bottom, youll find the WikiTree online help. You can ask all sorts of questions, technical and others, and because WikiTree is worldwide, there is almost always someone online, who can give a qualified answer. Good luck! - And don't forget to sign the Honor Code. Pleasure to have you onboard.
I have been doing genealogy research for almost 30 years. My main concentration of research is in South Jersey (Gloucester, Salem, Cumberland Counties with a smidgon of Cape May County thrown in), Philadelphia and Chester Counties in Pa., portions of Tennessee and Missouri.
Welcome to WikiTree, and thank you for your interest.
If you just want to look things up, or upload a GEDCOM for match, you do not need to take further actions.
If you want to contribute to WikiTree (add profiles, collaborate etc.), you must sign up as a volunteer. Doing so I will ask you to tell a little about your plans on your profile page. Do not volunteer unless you plan to contribute please!
After volunteering you can sign the HONOR CODE. You'll then become a full member and can help grow WikiTree through participation in the community. WikiTree also have MENTORS in case you need guidance.
