Biography

Martha McCormick was born on 23 November 1895 in County Antrim, Ireland. Her parents were Henry McCormick and Sarah Cushnan. [1]

In 1901 she was living with her parents and 4 siblings at their home in Portlee Cargin, Antrim.[2]

In 1911 she was 15 years old and attending school. She was living with her parents and siblings at their uncle John Cushinans home on Pinkerton Street in Belfast, Ireland. [1]

Martha and Hugh married at St. Patricks, Belfast on 6th Dec 1920; she gave her profession as REELER, her address as 42a NEW LODGE ROAD, and her father as HENRY MCCORMICK; and he gave his profession as SAILOR, his address as 31 ARTILLERY STREET; and his father as PHILLIP GARRY, occupation SAILOR. The witnesses were DANIEL MCLAUGHLIN and MARY ANN MCFADDEN. [3]

Martha was about 43 when Hugh died on duty, and had a home address that year of 29 STRATHROY PARK; DEATHS - GARRY (Belfast) - September 21, 1938 (suddenly), Hugh Garry, beloved husband of Martha Garry, 29 Strathroy Park. [4]
