Hi Wallace, It depends on which DNA test your sons took. If they did a yDNA test for their paternal line of ancestry, yours should be the same as theirs.

If they did an auDNA or mtDNA test, those include their mother's DNA which will be different from your mother's DNA (different genetic ancestry).

You do not have to take a DNA test to be part of our WikiTree DNA project. If you intend to add your sons' DNA tests, you will have to create a profile for each of them and add the tests to actual test participant's profile. Take a look at my Family Tree tab to see how I created profiles for my brother's yDNA test and my husband's: http://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Cooper-Family-Tree-1

If you are adding any DNA tests to profiles on WikiTree, please be sure to add the tests to the actual test participant's profile, and that the Privacy is set to show the participant's Family Tree tab.

Welcome, Wallace -

You're now a member of the WikiTree Community.

Please note we're trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means ONE profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add Profiles to WikiTree.

If you'd like any help, see the help section from the menu, top right, or visit the G2G forum. You might want to check out this 5-minute introductory video a member created.

Our Mentor Team is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you. Thank you for helping to build our shared tree!

Family history is not only important, but very thrilling. Doubt it, watch "Who Do You Think You Are" on TV. I've been at it fairly steady for about 5 years. Would like to volunteer helping if I am able. My sons have done our DNA family testing.
