About 1910, James and Bridget Married..[1] NOTE: Marriage not found on Family Search in Colorado or Illinois, as of 8/6/2016.
8-10 April 1930, this "McCormack" family was living at 5149 Lake Park Avenue, Chicago, Cook, Illinois: James, head, paying $50, rent, owned a radio, 47, married at 28, born in Longford, Ireland, as were his parents, naturalized in 1904, working as an electrical lineman for the railroad, not a U. S. veteran; Bridget, wife, 42, married at 24, born in the Irish Free State, as were her parents, naturalized in 1907, no outside occupation; James R, son, 16, attended school, born in Colorado; Edward J, son, 15, attended school, born in Colorado; Joseph F, son, 10, attended school, born in Colorado.[2] NOTE: The houses on that side of the street are no longer there. There is a narrow green space between the street and the railroad tracks.
1935-5 April 1940, This McCormick family was living at 1516 East 54th Street, (one of four families at this address), rent - $40: James, head, 57, finished 8th grade, born in Ireland/Eire, naturalized citizen, electrician for railroad, worked every week in 1939, income $1800; Bridget, wife, 50, finished 8th grade, born in Ireland/Eire, naturalized citizen, no outside work; James, son, 26, finished high school, born in Colorado, truck driver for retail cleaners, worked every week in 1939, income $1200; Joseph, 19, finished high school, born in Colorado, no outside occupation.[3] NOTES: This block still has apartment buildings, although this address is now a bank parking lot. The railroad tracks are at the East end of the block, and Hyde Park Cleaners is just around the corner.
