Biography

Rose was born in November 1830 and she was baptised on 15th November 1830. Her parents were called Patrick and Catherine and her sponsors were William McKevitt and Sarah Boyle. She passed away at the age of 63 in 1893 as recorded on her headstone and is buried in Shinn Catholic church graveyard. The marriage date for John & Rose was located in the records of Newry Cathedral along with the baptismal records for their 10 children. From these records it was possible to deduct the birth dates for the children, names of siblings of Rose & John and ages of John & Rose . At the age of 38 John married Rose McCoy who was 18 at the time. The year was 1848 the date 20th February. Rose came from the townland of Sheeptown which is about 4 miles north of Newry, Co. Down, Ireland. They would have been married in Sheeptown Catholic church.
