DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

The linked Find a Grave states that Alexander is the father which matches John Alexander (Mccoy) McCoy Jr (abt.1690-1762) and John McCoy (abt.1694-abt.1762) that are in an Unmerged Match already.

Any sources to determine the date of this person, as the son of Hugh?

The linked Find A Grave probably is not correct for this profile.

Also, It looks like the dates were changed for this profile without changing the bio, which also indicates that the dates may have been changed to match the Find a Grave, which is not correct. Parents and Wife do not match.
Feel free to help with this profile.

Please leave clear notes in change record so I can follow. Thanks. I just happen to be busy elsewhere right now. Richard.

The dates on this profile in the biography are nothing like the dates at the top of the profile, so it is uncertain where or when to look for sources. The linked find a grave, possibly is the dates in the biography but they can't be for the person in the profile if he married after he died. This is why when dates or relationships are changed, they should only be done when there are sources included in a profile.

Hard to know if two people have been conflated in this profile that are related or have no relationship with each other.
