Asa Harmon McCoy Jr. was born on 09 Oct 1862 in Pike County, Kentucky. He was the son of Asa McCoy and Martha (Cline) McCoy. His father Asa Harmon Sr. was killed in 1865 and the killing was part of the origin of the Hatfield-McCoy[1] feud. The 1880 census[2] lists Asa as living with his family in Peter's Creek, Pike, Kentucky and helping operate the farm.

In 1886 Asa married Nancy Christian. Between 1886 and 1890 Nancy gave birth to their three children. In 1890 Asa was shot by (according to findagrave) his own cousins. Asa Harmon McCoy Jr. is buried[3] at Billie Dotson Cemetery, Board Tree, Pike County, Kentucky in an unmarked grave.
