Biography

Jared was born circa 1740, thought to be in Scotland, but no sources have been found.

He married Eleanor Atkinson about 1765 in Maryland or Virginia.

He died about 1808 using entries from the Lower Goose Creek Church records, but no specific mention of a date or cause was found.

Burial

He is buried in the Cox Homestead Cemetery in Howellsville, Warren, Virginia, USA.

The eldest son of Jared and Eleanor, John, was born and baptised in 1766 in Prince George's County, Maryland, so they were most likely married there, or at least in Maryland, not in Fauquier County, Virginia, where they moved to and raised their family of 11 children.
