Note
Note: it appears that our McDougald connection is through Effie/y....I have not been able to find any documentation that would verify her parents or siblings...This is speculation, but I believe that she was the daughter of Archibald McDougald (1754-aft. 1819) who shows up on Robeson County land records c1785/8. Archibald says in his will that he has four daughters, but does not name them. (He does name two of his sons-in-law as executors: John McDonald and Malcom McMillan). Other records give some indication of three of the daughters: Catherine (m. John Campbell); Margaret (m. John McDonald); unnamed (m. Malcom McMillan). The fourth one cannot be found...was this one Effie/y?
Larry shared your Facebook correspondence concerning Marcia/Massie/y with me...Have you run an MTDNA back through Marcia/Massie since you have a straight female line? This is great...especially since I cannot do this because my line has two males between my mother and Massy...(Massy is the way she signed her name on a letter she sent to her son Elisha who was in the Civil War). I am not as familiar with MTDNA...does it only show the female migration patterns...?
I believe that Massy's maiden name (here goes speculation again) was Parker, not McGregor as some have said. Daniel and Massy lived at Teal or Grant's Mill near Cheraw, Chesterfield County, SC. This was almost directly across the PeeDee River from the site in Marlboro County where a Stephen Parker owned a boatyard. Stephen had a daughter named Massy who married Cannon Weaver; Stephen also had a son named Elisha. Was our Massy the daughter of Elisha and niece of the older Massy? Daniel and Massy named their oldest son Elisha; the rest of the children were given McDougald names except for my great grandfather - Henry Duncan - Henry was also a much used Parker name. There were lots of Parkers in Marlboro County, SC and one Henry Parker was an Indian Trader in 1725.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Effie by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Effie:
