Biography

Mary Frances McElhaney was born on 15 April 1878 in Texas, USA of Moses Looney McElhaney and Vollie Elizabeth Owen. She was the second of five children, including [McElhaney-195|Ollie William]], Lavenia, John Thomas and Annie M. She also had a single half-sister, Ella Gordon Stratton^[1].

Mary married Edward Francis Jones on 25 December 1896 in Brownwood, Harris County, Texas. He was born on 1 September 1874 in Parker County, Texas of Porter Benson Jones and Samantha Ann Black. Together Edward and Mary raised eight children: Edward Benson, LaVenia, Joseph Henry, Essie Ann, Elmer Monroe, Mae, Elvin and M.L.^[2]

Edward died on 21 February 1961 in Aspermont, Stonewall County, USA. Mary died on 8 December 1967 in Aspermont^[3][4]. They are buried together at Aspermont Cemetery in Aspermont.^[5]
