Jane was born likely born in October of 1833; but October of 1836 has been listed here to correspond with her memorial. She is the oldest daughter of Judge Isaac Richardson Douglass (1790–1850) and Margaret Gertrude Stephenson Douglass (1812–1887). Her last name at birth is Douglass. She is listed with her parents on the 1850 Census in Jefferson County, Virginia which would later become West Virginia.[1]
Jane was first married to John M. MacFarland who died in 1856; and her second marriage was to widower Dr. William McPherson Fuller on March 24, 1859.[2] She is listed with William on both: the 1860 Census[3] and the 1870 Census[4] in Winchester, Virginia. She passed away on September 7, 1912[5] in Chester, Jefferson County, West Virginia; but the date of September 12, 1912 is listed here to avoid an error suggestion due to her tombstone listing the date of the 12th. It is likely that the September 12th is the date that she was buried. Her obituary was published on September 8, 1912 in the Richmond Times Dispatch and lists her father; Judge Isaac Richardson Douglass.[6] Also listed in her obituary is her brother; Walter C. Douglass, her husband (Dr. Fuller), two children from her first marriage (John Montgomery McFarland and Mrs. B. G. Harris) and a son from her marriage to Dr. Fuller - Hogan Douglass Fuller. She is buried in the Zion Episcopal Churchyard in Charles Town, Jefferson County, West Virginia.[7] Her parents are linked to her memorial.
