Robert McFarland moved from Maine to Grand Manan Island with his father James McFarland in 1806. Both died on Grand Manan Island. Robert petitioned for a grant of government land in 1808 but it does not appear that he was successful. At this time, he mentions a wife Susannah & four children. The next time the family is heard from is at the time of the 1821 census when Susannah is listed as a widow. Also listed is one male child over 16 (Joseph?) two male children under 16 (John & James), one female child over 16, and two female children under 16 years. Robert McFarland died sometime after his youngest son James is conceived circa 1819.
US Census in 1800 list Robert McFarland in Hancock Co, Maine. He is listed on page 477 as a male between 16-26 years of age. Also listed is a female between 16-26, which would be his wife.
Maine Historical Records - Record of baptism in 1776 at The First Church of Christ in Biddeford. Hannah was baptized as was her brother Robert.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Robert by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Robert:
NOTE: This Robert born 1776, wife "Susannah" LNU; does not have a father names Robert, total error, his father is James McFarland, mother MArgaret Smith, [email address removed]
Error; Robert McFarland (1776 Hancock Co died1820-1 on Grand Manan) spouse "Sussanah" LNU; is the son of James McFarland (1741/2 Brunswick ME, died 1816-1818 poss on Grand Manan) and Margaret Smith (1754-1833). [email address removed]
BTW I have taken a DNA test with FTDNA, but I will not "post" the results. I will however add that the DNA of this line is as old as Clan MacGregor, and shares S744 with them, definitely not Clan [email address removed]
BTW I have taken a DNA test with FTDNA, but I will not "post" the results. I will however add that the DNA of this line is close to that of Clan MacGregor and not Clan [email address removed]
