--Oquawka Spectator, 4 July 1890:

"DIED--at her home in Oquawka on 24 June 1890 Mrs. M. T. Sharp in the 54th year of her age. The lady had been an invalid and a sufferer for over 20 years, but her final release from pain was sudden and unexpected. Her two daughters live at so great a distance that it was impossible for them to have reached this place before her burial. Fortunately, her son, Clyde, came home from Kentucky while his mother was yet living and apparently not much worse. Mrs. Sharp of late years has been unable to leave the house, but many know her as a pleasant, kind, generous neighbor, and a faithful friend. The grief-stricken family has the sympathy of the community. Funeral services were conducted at the residence Friday morning by Rev. Hanson."
