Joseph McGee is my 4G-grandfather. Everything before him is unclear, and some researchers leave him out of the family, but he does show up with them in legal proceedings. I don't know if he is a 'legit' son or an 'adopted other'. Someway they are connected, but it is unclear.
My grandmother was brought up in his grandson John Wiley McGee's household. She always said her grandfather was half indian, I'm not sure how that could be unless there were additional indian infusions, but that is what she said.
