    Maxine DeVaun Lewis, 84, of South Charleston died Friday, July 31, 2009, at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Don A.; two sons, Don K. Lewis of Dunbar and Max Regan Lewis I of St. Albans; daughter, Joyce Ellen Lewis of South Charleston; brother, Thomas Mack Sloan; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2009, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Rd., Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Goff officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date at Adkins Cemetery in Charleston. Friends may gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Valley Center for their excellent care given to Maxine.
