Biography

Janet, the daughter of Rev. Robert McGill and Catherine McLimont, ^[1] was born May 25, 1830, in Niagara, Upper Canada, where her father was pastor of St. Andrew's Church. Her sister Catherine was born the following year.^[2] She married John Bower Mowat in 1855. They had one son, Robert McGill. Janet died shortly after his birth.^[3][4]
