Born and raised in the hills of So. Illinois. The sixth generation of orchard growers and holder of an Irish Surname found most commonly in County Fermanaugh. Like my father and grandfather, I decided to serve in the Navy...unlike them, I stayed on for a bit more. Retired now to the mountains of the northern panhandle of Idaho.

Hi Brad, Welcome back to WikiTree. We have a great new google community for the Irish Roots project. Please find link on first page of project page or my profile.
Hi Brad, I'm trying to improve communications by ensuring members of the Irish Roots Project have full access to its Google Group. If you would like to become a member of the google group can you send me a PM with your e-mail address so that I can send you an invite to join. It's a closed group so unfortunately you cannot sign yourself in without an invite. If you do not want to be a member of the google group can you let me know. Thanks Maria

Good news from Thomas Krahn (YSEQ.COM) about FTDNA BigY tests and Full Genome Corp tests: (from Thomas' FaceBook post)
Good news for Big Y! I was at FTDNA yesterday and Max has told me that they have the first successful runs in house completed. He didn't say on which machine they were running (MiSeq or HiSeq) and he didn't comment on possible barcoding problems, but this gives us hope that some customers may not need to wait until next year to see their results...Also good news for FGC customers: YSEQ has returned the first results to our customers today. Most of the FGC markers could be confirmed right away with Sanger sequencing..Especially I'd like to point out the FGC5496 marker for R1b-DF13 researchers because it has also been confirmed in another sample of the 1000 genomes project.
Thank you for joining WikiTree. As a WikiTree Mentor I am available to answer any questions or help solve any issues you may be having. How is your experience with Wikitree going?
Our G2G Forumis searchable or you can post a question there.
The Help Index is also an important place to find how to do most tasks.
Feel free to ask me via my profile page if you have any questions.

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.
Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.
If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.
