"Dorothy McIntosh, born June 1st, 1903. Columbia. After graduating from Columbia High School in 1921 she entered Hollins College graduating with an A.B. degree in 1926. She then took business courses with success and worked in a law office for a short time. She took care of her mother and ran the house during her mother's illness and after her mother's death she became the mainstay of her father's house and took care of him until his death, working part time in a law office for several years. From 1940 to 1963 she was secretary for the Housing Authority of the City of Columbia where she was a hard and very efficient worker. She was a member of the Junior League of Columbia for some years and was active in the work of Trinity Episcopal Churchwomen. She died April 16th, 1963 in Columbia [5] and is buried there in Elmwood Cemetery." [6]

"Miss Dorothy McIntosh died Tuesday morning in the Columbia hospital after an illness of several months. Born in Columbia on June 1, 1903, Miss McIntosh was the daughter of the late Dr. James Higgins McIntosh and Frances Baxter McIntosh. She was educated in the Columbia public schools and was a graduate of Hollins College, Hollins, Va. She was a former member of the Columbia Junior League, a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and a legal secretary. For a number of years, Miss McIntosh was Tenant Selection Supervisor of the Housing Authority of the City of Columbia. Surviving are three brothers, James McIntosh, Columbia, Baxter McIntosh of Lynchburg, Va., and Walter H. McIntosh of Chicago; three sisters, Frances McIntosh of Memphis, Tenn. and Columbia, Mrs. L.H. Spellings, Jr. of Marshall, Tex., and Mrs. J.T. Pearlstine of St. Matthews. The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James McIntosh, 2510 Stratford Rd. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today in Trinity Episcopal Church, conducted by the Rev. Jame Stirling and the Rev. Fleetwood Albrecht. Internment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Reuben Johnson, F. DeVere Smith, John A. Chase, Jr., Charles L. Dial, Sr., Frank W. LaMotte, Albert McCaughrin, Charlie Haltiwanger and John C. Floyd, Jr." [7]
